Movements Merch Reflecting personal changes from a whirlwind five years, California post-hardcore quartet Movements realize the full scope of their storytelling and musicianship on their second full-length album soundtracked by post-punk grit, alternative expanse, heartfelt spoken word and expansive rock. Hawaiian Shirt While armed protesters have been filling up state capitol buildings to show their opposition to coronavirus lockdowns and other aspects of government, the most striking aspect of their look is the Hawaiian shirts they wear. The loosely affiliated group that calls itself the boogaloo movement—a send-up of the 1984 movie sequel Breakin' 2: Electric Boogaloo—has coopted this sartorial symbol of global multiculturalism to spread its message of violence and second civil war. This is a shock to manufacturers of the colorful island-themed shirts, who are caught off guard by their use as dog whistles for right wing militia groups. The shirts have long been associated with vacations, exotic getaways and faraway lands to people outside of Hawaii. And while they're often worn by celebrities like Cara Delevingne and Rihanna, the boogaloo movement's use of their bold prints to signal their radicalism has been particularly jarring. The shirts' loud colors and conspicuous patterns are designed to make their wearers stand out in a crowd, and the boogaloo bois have taken advantage of this to draw attention to themselves at their protests.
