$13 From February of 2005 until January of 2006, Sergeant First Class Mark Alaimo experienced the daily horrors of roadside bombs, the unknown fate of his own life and realized that only a handful of Iraqis were willing to bring change to their own country. All the while, his frustration toward Iraqis who only wanted a U.S. government handout grew into prejudice.With hardly a shot fired in anger, he witnessed a political tying of hands within the rules of engagement thus quickly bringing to fruition his understanding of fodder. And with the death of his former First Sergeant, and the unnecessary death of a senior noncommissioned officer, it all proved too much for this old school warrior.
